Nut-free, palm oil free, Kosher certified and suitable for vegetarians and coeliacs alike, there’s a lot that’s good about this devilishly delicious alternative to jam and marmalade when it comes to your morning toast. Not that the party ends with toast: serving suggestions from Royal Warrant holder’s Tiptree include spreading liberally onto pancakes, spooning over waffles, stirring into porridge and even warming gently and pouring over ice cream!

I find myself compelled to counter what another reviewer has written. I have tried many chocolate spreads and none compare in quality with this one. It is almost impossible to find a chocolate spread which doesn't contain a large proportion of nuts and oil. This one is an uncomplicated recipe containing mostly chocolate (a generous 60%), cream and butter. It tastes pure and very chocolatey, and it does not have the greasy, pasty texture of the nut-based products which use nuts as a filler because it is cheaper than cocoa.
