Building Guest Trust in the AI Era: Security, Sustainability, and Service

Trust

We value it in relationships, both personal and professional. We know how important it is to earn it and, crucially, to keep it. And having trust in something or someone inevitably means reliability, loyalty, and consistency.

In hospitality terms, trust in your hotel or brand sees your guests become your ambassadors, firmly in your corner and always ready to recommend your hotel to friends, family, or followers. It encourages repeat visits and long-term loyalty.

And in an increasingly AI-driven world, guests need to be able to trust the information that is readily available about your hotel. It’s never been more important to make sure the information on your website, and in the media and on public domains, is up to date. If out-of-date information about your hotel and facilities exists online, there’s a real risk that AI systems will continue to reference it.

In ABTA’s Holiday Habits 2025-2026 report, the number of people using AI to inspire their holiday plans doubled from 2024 to 2025. Almost 12 months on from the publication of the report, this figure is only likely to be on the increase.

Trusted guest security

UKHospitality has published a set of principles and best-practice guidelines for accommodation businesses focused on guest safety and security. Guest Security: Hospitality Industry Principles and Good Practice highlights how guests place huge amounts of trust in their hotel being able to offer a safe, secure, and welcoming environment, and shares practical examples of how to protect guests.

Help your guests trust your sustainability credentials

From 2030, across the EU, new regulations will be in place restricting the use of single-use packaging on hotel toiletries such as miniature shampoos and shower gels. (These are already banned in various places in the US including California). Although the UK is exempt from EU rules, it could only be a matter of time until we adopt similar practices. Many of Out of Eden’s customers are already ahead of the curve with around 80 per cent of hotels we supply cutting down on their plastic use by making the switch to refillable toiletries. We’re also seeing an increasing number of hoteliers choosing recyclable glass milk bottles over plastic milk sticks in hotel rooms.

Tea trends

Out of Eden’s recyclable mini glass milk bottles were highlighted in a recent piece in The Caterer looking at the ongoing popularity of the trusted cuppa and the different ways people now like to enjoy it. Have you seen a trend amongst your guests for more herbal teas? We now stock a wide variety of fruit and herbal teas from different brands plus regional brands including Lake District Tea, Welsh Tea and Dorset Tea.

Trust in hotel teams

We talked in a previous Check-In about our pride in sponsoring the ‘Housekeeping Team of the Year’ award at this year’s Hotel Cateys, which will take place on Monday 23rd November. Out of Eden’s London and Southeast Regional Sales Representative, Wilson Digby, had a front row seat at the judging day last month where a team of highly experienced housekeepers decided on the final shortlist of six housekeeping teams, four from London hotels, one from York, and one from Glasgow. Wilson has shared his behind-the-scenes experience of the judging day in a blog, which you can read here. Big congratulations and good luck to all the shortlisted teams!
